What do we do in our nursery?
It is best to see what we do by visiting the Nursery – you are welcome at any time.
In short, we provide a wide variety of equipment and materials to support all children’s learning areas – physical, cognitive, emotional, social and creative development.
Play is a crucial part in children’s learning, so our little explorers enjoy play-based environment that is structured to include all early learning needs. We plan different activities and challenging experiences that help children to develop and learn. We encourage each child to develop passion for knowledge that involves interest, enthusiasm and self-esteem.
In our nursery children have opportunity to enjoy:
- Arts and crafts sessions;
- Books and story times;
- Singing, music and movement;
- Science;
- Numeracy and literacy activities;
- Outdoor play;
- Imaginative and sensory play;
- Messy play activities;
- Construction area (different shapes wooden blocks, stickles).
At Little Amber Nursery working professionals try to create eco-friendly environment, encourage children to pay attention to natural things and resources. At the nursery the majority of toys are eco-friendly, made of wood and other natural resources.
Also, we focus on healthy eating, we collaborate with Early Start Wellbeing and Nutritious Team. At our nursery we encourage children to choose healthy products, we teach them about benefit of eating vegetables and fruits. In our outdoor area we have small vegetable garden where we grow tomatoes, courgettes and other vegetables. We want that since early years children would be aware of importance of choosing healthy eating products.
We know that regular communication between nursery and parents is essential, so we found that Little Amber Nursery newsletter for parents has been very important, providing useful and interesting information about events, reminders and much more.
The Early Years Foundation Stage at nursery is seen as the curriculum for the under five-year olds. This has recently been updated and is now implemented. There have been some changes made and will hopefully work really well, the EYFS works as follows:
Little Amber Nursery accepts and fully supports the government’s Free Early Education Entitlement (FEEE) scheme which offers children, the term after their 2nd or 3rd birthday, up to 30 hours of nursery education per week for 38 weeks of the year.
Each year we hold 3 parents’ evenings for parents to come in and view their child’s learning journey and have a chat to their key worker about their child’s development and next steps.
