Love Learning Through Play

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide the best possible stimulating care in safe environment, making sure that your child is happy and eager to explore the world and express their own imaginations. Little Amber Nursery is a successful nursery where happiness, respect, communication, engagement, partnership and care are valued. We are safe and caring place where every child can develop their capabilities as successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors to society.

What do we do in our nursery?

It is best to see what we do by visiting the Nursery – you are welcome at any time.
In short, we provide a wide variety of equipment and materials to support all children’s learning areas – physical, cognitive, emotional, social and creative development.
Play is a crucial part in children’s learning, so our little explorers enjoy play-based environment that is structured to include all early learning needs. We plan different activities and challenging experiences that help children to develop and learn. We encourage each child to develop passion for knowledge that involves interest, enthusiasm and self-esteem.In our nursery children have opportunity to enjoy:

  • Arts and crafts sessions;
  • Books and story times;
  • Singing, music and movement;
  • Science;
  • Numeracy and literacy activities;
  • Outdoor play;
  • Imaginative and sensory play;
  • Messy play activities;
  • Construction area (different shapes wooden blocks, stickles).

At Little Amber Nursery working professionals try to create eco-friendly environment, encourage children to pay attention to natural things and resources. At the nursery the majority of toys are eco-friendly, made of wood and other natural resources.

Also, we focus on healthy eating, we collaborate with Early Start Wellbeing and Nutritious Team. At our nursery we encourage children to choose healthy products, we teach them about benefit of eating vegetables and fruits. In our outdoor area we have small vegetable garden where we grow tomatoes, courgettes and other vegetables. We want that since early years children would be aware of importance of choosing healthy eating products.

About Us

About our Daycare

At Little Amber Nursery, we believe that every day is a learning day and that learning is all around us. As well as being a place of learning, we pride ourselves on ensuring that all children are coming in to a loving, caring environment where they are valued and listened to. We also involve children and parents in trying to continually improve.

Opened in September 2016, our nursery aims to provide a home from home feel where the children can free flow around the whole nursery building with the support of qualified friendly staff.

Children have the chance to take part in lots of fun activities both inside or in our lovely secure outside area – which comes complete with nice shady trees.

The nursery also has daily reading and singing times and children have access to booked and creative resources whenever they want to throughout the day too. We just love learning through play – whatever way!

Home – cooked meals are provided to cater for all tasters and vegetarian options are included as standard.

Nutritionally balanced snacks are also given to keep energy levels topped up throughout the day.

Parents Information

We know that regular communication between nursery and parents is essential, so we found that Little Amber Nursery newsletter for parents has been very important, providing useful and interesting information about events, reminders and much more.

At the beginning of each month you can find a paper copy of our newsletter at the reception area.

The Early Years Foundation Stage at nursery is seen as the curriculum for the under five-year olds. This has recently been updated and is now implemented. There have been some changes made and will hopefully work really well, the EYFS works as follows:

This curriculum provides us with different activities to enable your child to learn through their own imagination and learning through play using activities and recourses. Throughout your child’s time at nursery we build up a folder called your child’s learning journey. Within this folder to prove what stage of development your child is at we build up lots of observations, photographs, evidence of work and wow moments. All observations and wow moments will be linked to the developmental stages of the framework and will also tell you what we expect their next steps will be.  When your child leaves nursery you will then be able to look back on how your child has developed and grown.

Little Amber Nursery accepts and fully supports the government’s Free Early Education Entitlement (FEEE) scheme which offers children, the term after their 2nd or 3rd birthday, up to 30 hours of nursery education per week for 38 weeks of the year.

The free hours you receive each month may vary, in line with the length of each term, but are clearly shown on your monthly invoice.

For more information about free nursery education in your area, contact your Family Information Service.

Each year we hold 3 parents’ evenings for parents to come in and view their child’s learning journey and have a chat to their key worker about their child’s development and next steps.

This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to see all the fantastic learning, events, photos, art work etc. their child has been doing.
